Beet starter for borscht – a universal product that is used not only for borscht. Beetroot sourdough is also a wonderful vitamin and refreshing drink that is good to drink in the cold season.

Beetroot dressing contains lactic acid and fiber, which has a positive effect on the work of the intestines, stimulates digestion processes. Drinking beetroot dressing helps fight anemia and lowers bad cholesterol.

Beet starter for borscht – ingredients

  • Beet – 2 kg.
  • Water – 3,5-4 liters.
  • Marjoram – 5 tbsp.
  • Salt – 5 tbsp.
  • Sugar – 3 tbsp.
  • Garlic – 3 cloves.
  • Bay leaves – 5 pieces.

Beet sourdough for borscht – recipe

Boil water and leave to cool. Peel the garlic, cut it into several parts. Place the beets in a jar, sprinkling them with spices.

Add water at room temperature to the jar, cover the jar with cheesecloth and leave at room temperature.

The foam that appears on the surface of the sourdough is removed every day.

After 5-7 days, the sourdough should be ready for consumption. Strain the sourdough and store in the refrigerator.
