Cheese sticks with garlic – a great appetizer for beer, as well as a great addition to soups or borscht. Crispy and appetizing sticks taste best immediately after cooling.

Cheese sticks with garlic – ingredients

  • For the dough:
  • Milk – 1 glass.
  • Oil – 30 ml.
  • Eggs – 2 pieces.
  • Flour – 3,5 cups.
  • Salt – 1 tsp.
  • Sugar – 1 tsp.
  • Yeast – 25 g.
  • For the filling:
  • Garlic – 4 large cloves.
  • Yolk – from 1 egg.
  • Oil – 2 tbsp.
  • Hard cheese – 100 g.
  • Provencal herbs.

Cheese sticks with garlic – recipe

Grind yeast with sugar, add 2-3 spoons of warm milk. Leave in a warm place for 15-20 minutes.

We sift the flour, make a depression, pour in the solution, add eggs, milk and salt, knead the dough. We form a ball from the dough, put it in a pan, cover it with a towel. Leave the dough in a warm place for 1-1,5 hours (the dough should double in size).

We squeeze the garlic through a garlic press, add the yolk and oil, mix well.

Grate cheese on a coarse grater.

Place the dough on a work surface sprinkled with flour, roll it out thinly, cut strips 2-3 cm thick and about 20 cm long. Grease the dough with garlic mass, sprinkle with cheese and Provencal herbs.

Press the cheese a little into the dough with your fingers. We take each strip with our fingers from both sides and twist it in a spiral.

Cover the form with parchment, lay out twisted pieces of dough. Set aside the form with strips for 15-20 minutes in a warm place.

Bake at a temperature of 180 degrees for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown.
