Cherry fruzelina, or cherries in gel for the winter – delicious and original preparation of cherries for the winter. Cherries remain sweet, firm and taste good with pancakes, fritters and Belgian waffles.

For making cherry friuselina, or cherries in gel for the winter it is best to use dark-colored varieties. We recommend you try it!

Cherry friuselina, or cherries in gel for the winter – ingredients

  • Cherries (pitted) – 3 kg.
  • Sugar – 500 g.
  • Starch – 6 tbsp.
  • Cherry juice – 1 glass.
  • Juice of one medium lemon.

Cherry friuselina, or cherries in gel for the winter – a recipe for cooking

Cover the pitted cherries with sugar, leave for 2-2,5 hours. During this time, the wine will give a lot of juice.

Drain a glass of the obtained juice, add starch to it, mix well.

We put cherries with sugar on fire, cook for 5-10 minutes from the moment of boiling. Cherries should not be boiled, only slightly softened.

Pour in lemon juice, mix well.

Once again, mix the juice and starch well and, stirring constantly, pour in the starch in a thin stream.

Cook for a while longer, until the mass becomes thick and shiny.

Spread hot cherry friuselina in sterilized jars, cover with sterilized lids, seal tightly. Set aside to cool.

We check whether the lids of the cans are well retracted, they are slightly concave in the center. If everything is fine, take the cans to a dark storeroom. If you are in doubt about a jar, put it in the refrigerator and use it soon.

The given amount of ingredients makes 8 jars of 250 ml each.
