Pliatsok Cinnamon-poppy – ingredients
- For cakes with cinnamon:
- Eggs (large) – 4 pieces.
- Powdered sugar – 320 g.
- Butter (margarine) – 250 g.
- Flour – 240 g.
- Milk – 250 ml.
- Starch – 4 tbsp.
- Ground cinnamon – 40 g.
- Baking powder – 2 tsp.
- For the poppy seed cake:
- Squirrels – 6 pieces.
- Sugar – 8 tbsp.
- Starch – 2 tbsp.
- Dry poppy seeds – ¾ cup.
- Baking powder – 1 tsp.
- Flour – 2 tbsp.
- Almond flavoring – 2-3 drops.
- For the cream:
- Yolks – 6 pieces.
- Flour – 3 tbsp.
- Starch – 4 tbsp.
- Milk – 500 ml.
- Sugar – 150 ml.
- Oil – 250
- Vanilla sugar – 2 tbsp.
- Vanilla cappuccino – 6 tbsp.
- Vodka (cognac) – 50 ml.
- Additionally:
- Plum jam – 300 g.
- Square waffles – 4 pieces.

Cinnamon poppy seed cake – preparation
Cakes with cinnamon
Put soft butter in the bowl of a mixer, add powdered sugar and beat to a light, fluffy mass. Add eggs one at a time, beating constantly.
Mix flour with baking powder, starch and cinnamon. In several steps, alternating with milk (several spoons of dry ingredients, several spoons of milk), add dry ingredients to the butter mass, beat until smooth.
We spread the dough into two identical forms (20×27), lined with parchment. We bake the cakes at a temperature of 180 degrees for 35-40 minutes, until a “dry match”. We cool the cakes.
Note, if you don’t have two identical pans or the ability to bake two cakes at once, divide the ingredients in half and prepare the dough twice.
Poppy cake
Beat the egg whites to a stable foam, add sugar one spoon at a time, beating well each time. Mix the flour with baking powder and starch, sift to the egg whites, mix gently with a wooden spoon. Add poppy seeds and flavoring, mix again carefully.
Bake at a temperature of 160 degrees for 30-35 minutes. We are cooling.
Cream
Add egg yolks, flour, starch, cappuccino to 100 ml of milk, beat until smooth.
We put the rest of the milk on the fire, add sugar and vanilla sugar, bring to a boil.
Pour the previously prepared mass into boiling milk, stirring constantly, cook until thickened. Transfer the cooked cream to a ceramic dish, cover with cling film so that it touches the entire surface of the cream. Leave until completely cooled.
Beat the butter to a rich creamy mass, gradually add the cold boiled cream, beat until smooth, at the end of the beating add alcohol, beat well again.
We collect the braid
From the waffle cakes, form a cake according to the size of the baked cakes, spread half of the jam, spread the cake with cinnamon on top, spread with half of the cream, level it, cover with the poppy cake, spread the rest of the cream, cover with the second cake with cinnamon. Grease the cake with the rest of the plum jam, cover with the correspondingly cut waffle cakes.
Place the pie in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours, preferably overnight.
