Corn pie with cream and greens

Few of us eat grains other than rice and buckwheat. However, corn grits are not much inferior to their “competitors”. It is rich in iron, magnesium and vitamins of group B, which in turn normalize blood sugar well, and the caloric content and digestibility of the porridge gives lightness and satiety for a long time.   • For 2 servings:
  • Corn grits – 1 cup.
  • Cream 10% – 200 g.
  • Onion – 1 pc.
  • Lard/butter – 50 g.
  • Seasoning Italian herbs or hops, salt.
  • Fresh or frozen greens.

Corn pudding with cream and greens – recipe

If you like lard and are not “afraid” of a little crackling in your porridge, then cut it into small cubes and lightly fry it so that there is lard for frying onions and crispy cracklings.

Cut the onion into small cubes and fry in oil or lard.

Add pre-washed corn grits to the onion (wash in a separate bowl 2-3 times) and pour water in a ratio of 1:1,5 cups. Cook for 5-7 minutes. on low heat.

Then add cream and seasoning, salt to taste. Cook for another 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Finely chop your favorite greens or use frozen.

The finished dish is served with vegetables, generously sprinkled with greens. If desired, you can also add grated cheese, for example, Parmesan.
