  • For the dough:
  • Yeast – 25 g.
  • Warm water (30-35 degrees) – 75 ml.
  • Sugar – 10 g.
  • Flour – 1 tbsp.

  • Low-fat milk – 50 ml.
  • Egg – 1 piece.
  • Yolks – from 2 eggs.
  • Flour – 350-400 g.
  • Sugar – 15 g.
  • Salt – ½ tsp.
  • Orange peel – ½ tsp.
  • Black pepper – ¼ tsp.
  • Vodka – 1 tsp.
  • Additionally:
  • Stuffing for Christmas baubles.

Christmas dumplings – recipe

Let’s start making Christmas dumplings from the preparation of opara. Mix yeast, water, sugar and flour, mix well. Leave the dough for 30 minutes in a warm place.

Beat an egg in a deep bowl, add yolks, salt, sugar, zest and pepper, mix. Pour warm milk, vodka and steam.

Gradually add flour a spoon at a time, mixing each time. Add flour until the dough has the consistency of thick sour cream (like for fritters). Cover the dough with a towel, set aside for 8-15 minutes in a warm place.

Gradually add the rest of the flour, knead the dough. The dough should be soft, like dumplings.

Knead the dough well with your hands. We stretch (or roll out) the dough to a thickness of 0,8-1,5 cm. We cut circles with a glass, put the filling in the middle, pinch, and form a donut.

Pour oil into a thick-walled pan, heat it well. We lay out the pampukhs (seam to the bottom). Fry until golden brown.

Place the finished dumplings on a paper towel to remove excess fat.

Before serving, sprinkle pampuh with powdered sugar. Bon appetit!
