Dumplings with potatoes and mushrooms

There are no such thing as cabbage rolls – from different varieties of cabbage, in grape leaves, rhubarb leaves and even beetroot leaves. Fillings for cabbage rolls are also varied. The recipe is, of course, simple, but how delicious the stuffed cabbage turns out to be, simply cannot be expressed in words – you must try it.

Recipe for cabbage rolls with potatoes and mushrooms

  • cabbage – 1 kg.
  • potatoes – 750 g.
  • fresh carrots – 1 piece.
  • onion – 2 pieces.
  • tomato juice – 1 glass.
  • fresh mushrooms – 200 g.
  • oil – for frying.
  • salt – to taste.
  • granulated sugar – 1 tsp.

Put the cabbage in a saucepan, pour boiling water over it and put it on the stove over low heat, cook for 15-20 minutes with the lid closed.

Take the cabbage out of the pot and put it on a plate to cool. When the cabbage cools, cut the head and separate the cabbage into leaves.

Peel the onion, wash and cut into cubes. Peel, wash and grate the carrots on a medium grater. Wash the mushrooms, cut them, if the mushrooms are forest mushrooms, you need to boil them beforehand.

Put a frying pan on the stove, pour oil and heat it. Add onions and carrots to the pan, saute for 5-7 minutes. Add mushrooms to carrots and onions, fry until golden, remove from the stove.

Peel the potatoes, wash them and grate them on a coarse grater.

Add half of the fried vegetables to the grated potatoes, mix, salt and pepper the filling, mix.

Now we form cabbage rolls. We take a cabbage leaf, put a spoonful of filling on the edge, wrap the edges of the cabbage leaf and wrap it with a roll. This is how we form all the cabbage rolls until the filling runs out. Place the doves in a pan.

Put the rest of the fried vegetables in the pan on the stove, add tomato juice or diluted tomato paste, you can also add tomatoes in their own juice (remove the skin and grind with a blender), mix. Add water, salt and pepper, bring to a boil and pour the vegetable sauce into the cabbage rolls, if necessary, add enough water to cover the cabbage rolls with the sauce.

Put the pot with cabbage rolls on the stove, bring to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 40 minutes until ready.

After that, turn off the fire, spread the cabbage rolls on plates and serve. Sour cream goes well with any cabbage rolls, so it can also be served together with cabbage rolls.
