Easy to prepare strudel with cherries and walnuts

Strudel is an Austrian dish in the form of a roll. Fillings can be various. It’s summer, it’s time for berries, but you don’t want to stand in the kitchen for a long time, so Smakota ( offers a very simple strudel recipe – strudel with cherries and walnuts. For such a strudel, you can use both fresh and frozen cherries, the main thing is that there are no pits in them.


  • Puff pastry – 500 g.
  • Cherry – 300 g.
  • Breadcrumbs – 50 g.
  • Walnuts – 100 g.
  • Sugar – 100 g.
  • Butter – 1 tablespoon.
  • Egg – 1 piece.
  • Starch – 1 tablespoon.

A recipe for strudel with cherries and walnuts

Take the dough out of the freezer in advance so that it thaws.

We wash the cherry, remove the stones, put it in a colander so that it releases the juice.

Sprinkle the work surface with flour and roll out the dough very thinly. Lubricate the dough with melted butter and, stepping back a little from the edges of the dough, sprinkle it with breadcrumbs and finely chopped walnuts.

We take already ready cherries, add cornstarch and mix. Place the cherries on the dough in rows. Sprinkle the cherry with sugar on top. Now roll the dough as tightly as possible. We spread the dough on a form covered with parchment. Pierce with a toothpick in several places. Brush the top of the dough with an egg.

Bake the strudel in the oven at a temperature of 200 degrees for about 20 minutes. You should see a golden crust.

Remove the strudel from the oven and generously sprinkle with powdered sugar.
