French Ratatouille
Ratatouille is a hot vegetable snack originally from France. The rich spicy taste leaves a taste of freshness and perfectly saturates the body with useful vitamins. Such a dish is perfect for dinner for children, or for lunch for those who follow a healthy diet.
French Ratatouille – ingredients
- zucchini – 1 pcs.
- eggplants – 1 pcs.
- tomatoes – 2 pcs.
- onion – 1 pcs.
- Provence herbs – 1 pinch.
- salt and pepper – to taste.
- For the sauce:
- red bell pepper – 1 pc.
- yellow bell pepper – 1 pc.
- chopped pulp of tomatoes – 300 g.
- olive oil – 2 tbsp. l.
- Provence herbs – 1 pinch.
- garlic – 4 cloves.
Preparation of ratatouille
Pre-bake bell peppers in the oven at a temperature of 200 ° C degrees for 10-15 minutes. Next, peel, remove the seeds and cut into small cubes.
Mix the chopped tomato pulp with the baked bell peppers.
Chop the garlic, add to the peppers and tomatoes. Add a pinch of Provencal herbs to the sauce.
Cut tomatoes, eggplants, zucchini and onions into circles of the same diameter and thickness. Put the vegetables in a bowl, add Provencal herbs, salt and pepper to taste, mix.
Put part of the finished sauce on the bottom of the baking dish, spread it evenly. Place the vegetables one by one on top of the sauce.
Pour olive oil over the vegetables, then spread the rest of the sauce over them. Bake the dish in an oven heated to 180 ° C for 40 minutes, until the vegetables are soft.
Advices
The dish should not be stored in the refrigerator for several days, it should be prepared just before the arrival of guests and served hot and fresh.
You can experiment with herbs in the recipe: mint, fennel, thyme, sage, rosemary, basil, oregano. Spices and additional “raisins” will make the taste unique!
Ordinary salt can be replaced with edible sea salt.
Modern cooks allow the introduction of additional ingredients to the recipe: meat, seafood, pumpkin.
