Green tomato chutney
Chutneys are full of flavors and aromas, combining sweet and sour flavors, ideal for many dishes. Today we will cook with you green tomato chutney – an ideal addition to pâtés and fried or baked meat.
Tomato chutney has a strong and pronounced taste. Immature, green tomatoes have a more sour taste, slightly reminiscent of gooseberries.
Green tomato chutney – ingredients
- Green tomatoes – 1 kg.
- Onion – 1 kg.
- Apple cider vinegar – 100 ml.
- Sugar – 200-400 g.
- Water – ½ cup.
- Chili pepper – 1 piece.
- Allspice – 2 pcs.
- Carnation – 2 flowers.
Green tomato chutney – preparation
Cut the onion into small cubes, put it in a pan. Finely chop the tomatoes and add them to the onion.
Add the rest of the ingredients, cover with a lid and simmer over low heat for 40 minutes. Remove the lid and simmer until all the liquid evaporates.
When our chutney is thick, transfer it to jars, close tightly and turn upside down, leave it like this until it cools completely.
