Classic grog recipe generally consists of fairly strong brewed tea combined with rum. To improve the taste and aroma of grog, spices, sugar and lemon are added to it.

There is an opinion that the name of the drink comes from the nickname of the English admiral, who ordered to give sailors instead of a glass of pure rum a day, rum diluted with water. The admiral’s name was Edward Werner, and he got the nickname “Old Grog” from the fact that he constantly wore a special waterproof cape called a “grogrem”.

Grog perfectly warms a cold autumn (or winter) day and definitely improves mood.

Grog it is drunk only hot, in small sips, so as not to burn the throat.
