Hot dogs for a picnic – an ideal “takeaway” option. They are easy to pack in a backpack, you won’t get greasy with them while eating, they suppress hunger well. Such buns with sausages can be taken on long walks in nature, they are also good for a snack at work or school.

Hot dogs for a picnic – ingredients

  • For the dough:
  • Flour – 500 g.
  • Milk – 100
  • Water – 200 ml.
  • Oil – 50
  • Sugar – 1 tsp.
  • Salt – 2 tsp.
  • Yeast – 24 g.
  • For the filling:
  • Sausages (18-20 cm long) – 4 pieces.
  • Onion – 2 pieces (large).
  • Tomato paste – 1 tbsp.
  • Chopped parsley – 1 tablespoon (optional).
  • Hard cheese – 30 g.
  • Favorite spices (oregano, basil, ready-made pizza seasoning. ).
  • Yolk + 1 tbsp. milk

Hot dogs for a picnic – recipe

Cut the onion into small cubes, fry in oil until soft. Add tomato paste, mix. Remove from heat, leave to cool. Add parsley, mix.

Remove the casing from the sausages, cut them in half.

Rub yeast with sugar and a few spoons of warm milk. Leave in a warm place for 15-20 minutes.

After this time, add the rest of the ingredients and knead the dough. We roll the dough into a ball, put it in a container sprinkled with flour, cover it with a towel, leave it in a warm place for 1 hour (the dough should double in volume).

Roll out the dough, divide it into 8 equal parts. Roll out a rectangle (about 8×14 cm) from each particle. Put a spoonful of onion on each rectangle, put a sausage in the middle, pinch the dough, form a long cake, put it on a parchment-lined form, seam to the bottom. Cover the form with a towel, leave in a warm place for 20-30 minutes.

Lubricate the buns with yolk beaten with milk. Sprinkle grated cheese on top.

Bake at a temperature of 180 degrees for 20 minutes (until brown). Cool on a wire rack.
