Japanese Okonomiyaki pizza

“Okonomiyaki” translates as “what you want”. If you are lucky enough to try this dish in one of the restaurants in Japan, the waiter will ask you which filling you would prefer: smoked meat, mushrooms, baked meat, cheese or seafood. Very simple and fast! Delicious – impossible to stop. All products are at hand. Cook and enjoy delicious Japanese Okonomiyaki pizza.

Okonomiyaki Japanese pizza recipe

  • white cabbage – 400 g.
  • egg – 1 piece.
  • flour (a little more than half a cup) – 0,6 cups.
  • water – 200 g.
  • soy sauce – 2 tbsp.
  • meat (ready-made, choice of meat according to taste (smoked, baked, fried, bacon)) – 300 g.
  • sour cream (for sauce).
  • salt.
  • ground black pepper).
  • green onion – 1-2 bunches.
  • oil (for frying) – 2 tbsp.

Shred the cabbage as finely as possible, finely chop the green onion. Do not spare the onion! Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.

Next, we prepare a very thin dough. Combine flour, egg, water and a tablespoon of soy sauce. Pour the dough into chopped cabbage with onions. Mix everything well.

We are cooking meat. Any smoked meat, baked chicken, yesterday’s chop, boiled chicken breast, just baked meat will be perfect. In general, we cut whatever we have.

Heat the pan over low heat. Lubricate it with oil and lay out half of the cabbage. Put all the meat on the cabbage. Cover the meat with the remaining cabbage. Cover with a lid (required) and simmer over low heat for 15 minutes. Don’t miss it so it doesn’t burn.

Then cover the pan with a plate and carefully turn it over. Be careful with the hot pan! Then again grease the pan with oil and put the pizza on the raw side. Cover with a lid again and cook for another 15 minutes until golden brown.

Okonomiyaki can be served with homemade sour cream and soy sauce.
