Lean pie with onions

Even on fasting days, you can prepare delicious pastries. Lean pie with onions prepares very quickly. We offer a minimal set of the simplest ingredients. It is not at all necessary to add eggs, milk and butter to the yeast dough. The secret of this baking is the usual rice broth, which will make the dough lush, tender and of a beautiful white color. It will taste good for lunch, breakfast or dinner, or just for a snack or during tea time.

Ingredients for cooking lean pie with onions

  • flour – 400 g.
  • water – 600 ml.
  • rice – 100 g.
  • sugar – 1 tbsp.
  • onion – 2 pcs.
  • oil – 5 tbsp.
  • fresh yeast – 15 g.
  • salt – 1 tsp.

Preparation of lean pie with onions

Boil rice. Wash well, pour into a container with boiling water and cook over low heat for about 20 minutes. The resulting broth is drained and cooled. For lean pie with onions you will need 200 ml of rice broth.

Mix flour with yeast, add salt, sugar and rice broth. We knead the dough. Add oil.

Roll the dough into a ball, put it in a large container, cover with a towel and leave in a warm place for 1 hour to rise.

Peel and finely chop the onion.

Fry in oil until transparent. The onion should be slightly caramel colored. Salt a little. Set aside to ripen.

Divide the dough that has already risen into 3 equal parts.

We roll out all the parts into thin cakes.

Put half of the onion filling on the cake and spread it evenly. Cover with the second cake, spread the second part of the filling and cover with the third cake.

We cut the cakes into 8 parts.

We roll each part with a roll, starting from the wide side.

For baking, we prepare a form, which we cover with parchment paper or grease with oil.

Place the rolls in a mold and leave for 30 minutes in a warm place to rise.

Heat the oven to 180 degrees and bake lean pie with onions about 30 minutes, until ready.
