Marinated mussels at home

Mussels is a rich source of high-quality easily digestible protein. The benefit of this protein is that it contains many essential amino acids for humans and is very dietary. This meat can be used to replace the meat of domestic animals and fish. If finances allow, of course.

So you bought a bag of frozen mussels, and then the question is, what to do with them? How to prepare them?

The easiest and fastest way to cook mussels is pickling. Marinated mussels can be a tasty addition to rice, or simply as a snack. Also mussels are also used in salads.

Of course, you can buy ready-made ones in stores marinated mussels. But is it necessary to say that mussels pickled at home are not only much tastier, but also a subject of significant savings, because ordinary frozen mussels cost almost twice as much as ready-made pickled ones.

So, today, as you already understood, we are cooking with you marinated mussels. Pickling itself will not take you more than 10 minutes. Try it!

Marinated mussels – ingredients


  • Mussels (boiled and frozen) – 400 g.
  • Soy sauce – 4 tbsp.
  • Water – 1 glass.
  • Salt – 1 tsp.
  • Sugar – 1 tsp.
  • Vinegar (9%) – 1 tbsp.
  • Oil – 2 tbsp.
  • Greens – 1 bunch.
  • Lemon – 0,5 pieces.
  • Garlic – 6 cloves.
  • Allspice – 0,5 tsp.

Marinated mussels – preparation

Pour soy sauce, vinegar, and oil into the pan where we will prepare the marinade. Add allspice, bay leaf, salt, and sugar.

Pour out the mussels. We do not defrost them, so they keep their shape better.

Pour boiling water and put on fire. Bring to a boil. Boil for less than a minute.

Finely chop greens and garlic. You can use any greens you like: basil, dill, parsley.

Cut the lemon into thin rings, divide each ring into 4 pieces. Add lemon, garlic and greens to the marinade for the mussels. When the mussels cool down, you can serve them to the table.
