A step-by-step recipe for making a braid “Colorful dream” with photos

To begin with, we will prepare custard cream No. 1. Grind the yolks with sugar, add vanilla sugar, flour, 50 ml of milk and mix the mass well. Boil the rest of the milk and pour it into the yolk-sugar mixture, mix everything. Put on fire and cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and leave to cool. Beat the butter to a fluffy white mass, and gradually add the cold custard, without stopping beating.

The cream is ready, now let’s take dough #1. The amount of flour is not indicated in the ingredients, now you will understand why.

Mix all the ingredients thoroughly until smooth. Divide the mass into 4 parts and add dyes (artificial dyes can be used, but natural ones will also give enough color).

  • For the first mass:
  • Tomato paste – 2 tbsp.
  • Flour – 100 g.
  • For the second mass:
  • Spinach puree – 2 tbsp.
  • Flour – 100 g.
  • For the third mass:
  • Cocoa – 2 tablespoon
  • Sour cream – 2 tbsp.
  • Flour – 100 g.
  • For the fourth mass:
  • Turmeric – 1 tsp
  • Sour cream – 1 tbsp.
  • Flour – 100 g.

If one of the masses is difficult to stir, you can add 1-2 spoons of milk. The texture of the dough should be creamy.

So we got 4 types of dough of different colors. On baking paper, draw a rectangle of approximately 16×21 cm, this is the optimal size for this amount of dough (if you have a form of this size, you can use it).

One by one, we lay out half of the dough of each color and bake the cakes. As a result, you should get 8 cakes (2 of each color). Bake each cake for about 10 minutes.

Cool the cakes and grease them with cream No. 1. We alternate the cakes so that the cakes of the same color are not next to each other.

Now we arm ourselves with a ruler and will do “culinary geometry”. We measure the height of the cakes with cream. It should be approximately 4-4,5 cm. Now we make markings on the cake with a knife, as a result, when cut, it should turn out to be even cubes.

We are preparing dough #2. Mix all the ingredients, divide the mass into 2 parts. In one part, add 2 tbsp. cocoa, in the second vanillin and 1-2 tbsp. milk Mix until a homogeneous consistency.

On baking paper, draw a stencil of the same size as for the previous cakes. We first lay out half of the dark dough, then, on top of the black, half of the white dough, we lay out the straw on top. In this way, we will get two two-color cakes.

Bake the cakes for 10-13 minutes.

We are preparing cream No. 2. Beat boiled condensed milk with sour cream.

We begin to assemble the plait. Put a black and white cake on the bottom, grease it with cream No. 2. On top, we lay out multi-colored cubes: one part – straight, the second – cut up. All joints are generously greased with cream No. 2. Grease everything with cream No. 2 on top and put the second black and white cake (do not grease the top with cream).

We put our braid in the refrigerator until it is completely soaked (better overnight).

Prepare the glaze. Melt the dark chocolate in a water bath, add butter and sour cream, mix well and cover the cake. Put it back in the fridge to harden the glaze.

Now we cut the braid so that all its beauty is visible.
