Pork stew with potatoes and cabbage – ingredients

  • pork – 400 g.
  • lard – 150-200 g (pork).
  • white cabbage – 500 g.
  • water – 300 ml.
  • potatoes – 6 pieces.
  • allspice – 5 peas.
  • bay leaf – 3 pieces.
  • carrots – 2 pieces.
  • onion – 2 pieces.
  • sugar – 3 tsp.
  • salt.
  • black pepper.

Pork stew with potatoes and cabbage – preparation

Let’s prepare all the vegetables for the stew. Cut potatoes into cubes, carrots into half rings, finely chop cabbage, onion into half rings.

Cut the lard into small pieces, put it in a thick-walled pot or pan. Melt the lard over medium heat until it crackles.

Cut the meat into small pieces, put it in melted fat (if you don’t like crackling, you can take them out) and fry it over low heat until golden brown (10-15 minutes).

Add onions, carrots and cabbage to the meat, cover with a lid and simmer until the cabbage reduces in volume. Periodically remove the lid and stir.

When the cabbage begins to fry, add potatoes to the stew, pour water, salt, add sugar, black and allspice pepper, bay leaf. Stir, cover with a lid, cook until the potatoes are ready.

Serve the stew hot to the table.
