Pumpkin and minced meat casserole with bechamel sauce – ingredients

  • Pumpkin – 1,5 kg (peeled).
  • Minced chicken – 750 g.
  • Onion – 1 piece (large).
  • Raisins – ½ cup.
  • Garlic – 4 cloves.
  • Cumin – 1 teaspoon (if you don’t like it, skip it).
  • Chili pepper – ½ tsp.
  • Dried tomatoes – 1 tbsp.
  • Oregano – 1 tbsp.
  • For the sauce:
  • Oil – 1 tablespoons
  • Flour – 2 tbsp.
  • Milk – 3 glasses.
  • Nutmeg – a pinch.
  • Salt pepper.
  • Additionally:
  • Pumpkin seeds – 1 cup.
  • Grated cheese – 1 cup.
  • Oil – 3 tbsp.

Peel the pumpkin, remove the core, cut into slices about 1 cm thick.

Cut the onion into small cubes, garlic into thin slices.

Heat the oil in a large pan, add the onion, add a little salt, fry, stirring, over high heat for about a minute, add the garlic, stir, fry for another half a minute.

Add minced meat, stir with a spatula, constantly separating the lumps, fry until the minced meat completely changes color. Add raisins, cumin, spices, salt and pepper. Add half a glass of water. Fry over high heat for 2-3 minutes until the liquid evaporates (almost completely). Remove from the fire.

Grease a baking dish with oil, put about two-thirds of the pumpkin, lightly salt it, and drizzle with oil.

Melt butter in a pan, add flour, fry for half a minute, stirring constantly. Remove the pan from the heat, slowly pour in the milk, stirring constantly so that there are no lumps. Salt and pepper to taste, add a pinch of nutmeg. Put the pan on medium heat again, bring to a boil while stirring. Remove from the fire.

Put the minced meat on the pumpkin, sprinkle with pumpkin seeds, spread the rest of the pumpkin on top, pour the sauce over everything.

We put the form with the future casserole in the oven heated to 180 degrees, bake for 40-50 minutes until the pumpkin becomes soft.

At the end of baking, sprinkle pumpkin casserole cheese, return to the oven. We increase the temperature to 200 degrees, bake for another 5-10 minutes.
