Royal pie with chicken and mushrooms – such a cake can easily be called “the envy of all housewives”. If such a delicacy is on the table, the guests will definitely ask for the recipe and cooking secrets along with the next piece of pie. This pie will definitely become the “king” of the guest table, and you will again impress your guests with your culinary skills.

Royal pie with chicken and mushrooms – ingredients

  • Puff pastry – 500 g.
  • Chicken quarters – 2 pcs. (~600 g).
  • Carrot – 5 pc.
  • Onion – 5 pc.
  • Mushrooms – 300-400 g.
  • Melted cottage cheese – 2 pcs.
  • Ready pancakes (pancakes) – 4-6 pcs.
  • Egg – 1 pcs.
  • Dill – 1 bunch (can be frozen).
  • Sunflower or pumpkin, flax, sesame seeds.
  • Mayonnaise.

Royal pie with chicken and mushrooms – recipe

Boil the chicken until ready (salt and add a bay leaf). Then cool and separate from the bones. Cut or chop the meat.

Peel the onion and carrot, cut into cubes and grate on a large grater, respectively. Fry and stew until ready, add chopped dill, salt and pepper to taste.

Mushrooms (you can peel them beforehand, or not), cut into thin half slices, stew.

Divide the finished dough into 2 parts, roll out the size of your baking pan (we used a 30*20 rectangular pan). One should be slightly larger to cover the edges of the pan, the other will cover the entire cake.

We put the first part in a pie dish, grease it with a thin layer of mayonnaise. Next, lay out the chicken meat, put half of the stewed carrots and onions on top. Sprinkle melted cheese on top.

We spread flatbreads on top of the first layer of filling.

***Tip: in order to correctly “cover” a rectangular shape with round flatbreads, you need to cut them into half circles. And we populate, turning the cut to the edge of the form.

Having made a “partition” of flatbreads, we also smear them with a thin layer of mayonnaise and lay out the rest of the fried carrots with onions and stewed mushrooms.

Cover the cake with the second part of the rolled out puff pastry. Brush with a beaten egg and sprinkle (if desired) with sunflower seeds, sesame or flax.

Bake in the oven for 40 minutes at a temperature of 180-200 degrees until golden (maybe 50-60 minutes, depends on the oven).

Cut into portions and taste with chicken broth (you can use the broth in which the meat was cooked for the filling).
