Salad with herring and beets – an easy-to-prepare salad. It has an interesting taste and appearance thanks to the herbs and the layered method of preparation.

Salad with herring and beets – ingredients

  • Herring lightly salted, fillets – 5 pieces.
  • Onions – 2 pieces.
  • Mayonnaise – 5 st.l.
  • Thyme, dried basil, pepper – to taste.
  • Potatoes – 3 large pieces.
  • Beets – 7 pieces (small).
  • Eggs – 3 pieces.

Salad with herring and beets – recipe

We boil the potatoes in their jacket, cool them, clean them, and cut them into cubes (not small ones).

Wrap beets in foil, bake until ready (1-1,5 hours) at a temperature of 180 degrees, cool, clean, cut into cubes.

Clean the onion and cut it into small cubes.

Cut the herring into cubes, sprinkle with thyme, pepper and mix.

Add basil to mayonnaise.

Boil the eggs until cooked, cool, separate the yolks from the whites. Cut the whites into cubes, break the yolks.

    Spread the salad in layers:
  1. Potato.
  2. Mayonnaise.
  3. Beet.
  4. Herring.
  5. Mayonnaise.
  6. Onion.

In the same sequence, lay out another layer of salad. Spread egg whites on top, decorate the top with crushed yolks.

Cover the top of the salad with cling film and refrigerate for a few hours before serving.
