Serbian moussaka

Serbian moussaka – the dish is tasty and very filling, but you should not be afraid of the unfamiliar name of this dish. Having prepared it, you will understand that Serbian moussaka is very similar to a regular casserole with meat and potatoes, but the moussaka recipe has its own secrets.

Serbian moussaka – ingredients

  • Minced meat (beef, veal, pork) – 700 g.
  • Potatoes – 8-10 pcs.
  • Onion – 3 pc.
  • Carrot – 3 pc.
  • Eggs – 3 pcs.
  • Tomatoes – 2 pcs.
  • Cheese – 200 g.
  • Milk – 300-400 ml.
  • Olive oil (for frying).
  • Butter (for greasing the mold).
  • Salt, pepper, parsley to taste.

Serbian moussaka recipe

Let’s start with vegetables. You need to cut the onion, grate the carrot, cut the potato into thin slices, like chips. Fry the onion in a pan for 4-5 minutes, add carrots and fry for another 5 minutes. Add minced meat to the pan and stew everything together until the minced meat turns brown, salt and pepper the mixture to taste.

Let’s move on to formation Serbian moussaka. The baking form should be greased with butter. Put a layer of potatoes on the bottom of the mold. Then a layer of minced meat. Repeat the following operation several times: potato-minced meat-potato-minced meat (the amount depends on the shape parameters).

Put tomatoes cut into rings on the last layer of minced meat. Be sure to make the final layer Serbian moussaka there were potatoes, otherwise you will not get the desired result.

We bake Serbian moussaka in the oven at 250 degrees for 20-25 minutes, until the potatoes are browned. In the meantime, let’s prepare our dressing. Beat the eggs with milk and salt (as for an omelet) and sprinkle evenly Serbian moussaka from above. Then cover with a layer of grated cheese.
