Shuba salad with herring (traditional recipe for men)

Shuba salad with herring (traditional recipe) – ingredients

  • For 2 serving dishes with a diameter of 20 cm:
  • Potatoes – 8 pcs.
  • Carrot – 6 pc.
  • Herring – 400 g.
  • Onion – 1-2 pcs.
  • Beet – 2 pc.
  • Mayonnaise – 400
  • Vinegar (or lemon juice) – 1 tbsp. l.
  • Salt pepper.

Shuba salad with herring – recipe

Wash the vegetables and boil them in separate pots. Then pour out the water, cool, clean.

Peel the onion, cut it into small cubes, mash it with a fork or with your hands to release the juice and add vinegar or lemon juice, salt and pepper. Leave for 5-10 minutes. marinate

Cut the herring into small pieces and mix with pickled onions.

Next, we begin to form the salad. First, rub 2 potatoes on a large grater, press down a little with a spoon and smear with mayonnaise (by the way, to use less mayonnaise, you can dilute it with oil that contained herring, if of course there is such).

Then grate 1-1.5 carrots and also smear with mayonnaise. Spread a layer of herring with onions on top of the carrots and cover with a thin layer of potatoes. There is no need to add mayonnaise on top of the fish, because it is already juicy and has a little oil on it.

Then mayonnaise again on top of the potatoes, carrots – mayonnaise and at the end tremo beets. The salad should be 3-4 cm high.

Decorate with mayonnaise patterns or a few sprigs of fresh greens.
